Commissioned by Whittaker’s for the 2017 relaunch of its Toffee Milk range, this horse-drawn cart is a faithful replica of the original chocolate delivery carts used by J.H. Whittaker & Sons in the 1930s.
Built using traditional wheelwrighting techniques, the cart combines restored heritage elements with newly made components, carefully shaped in timber and finished with hand-painted detailing. The result is a delicious piece of storytelling that celebrates both New Zealand’s confectionery history and the enduring craft of hand-built transport.
